Couples, Relationship, & Family Therapy

Couples, Relationship, & Family Therapy

Note that we use the terms couples therapy and relationship therapy interchangeably, and to be inclusive of folks in all kinds of relationship configurations, including multi partner and polyam relationships.

Queer Relationships

ATC therapists are well-versed in queer issues and are affirming of the full spectrum of queer identities. We understand that relationships can look so many different ways, and are all passionate about supporting our patients in curating relationships that work for them, including for bi and pansexuals, asexual, aromantic and questioning folks.

Queer relationships can offer immense joy and also are subject to unique pressures, including heteronormativity, issues surrounding coming out and family acceptance, codependency, and the uniqueness of family building.

Family Therapy

Whether family by choice, blood, or marriage, you’re welcome and respected here.

Friendship Therapy

You don’t need to be connected by blood or via romance or sex in order to participate in and benefit from relationship therapy. Friendships are a lifeline for so many people, especially queer and trans folks and ace and aro folks, and deserve the same respect, care and priority as romantic and sexual partnerships.

Discernment Counseling

Whether you fear you’ve been together “too long” and need to make a decision around getting married or are struggling to navigate potential deal breakers, it may be time for discernment counseling.

Discernment counseling helps those in relationships make decisions – to stay together or breakup, for example – and map out what might be needed in order to preserve the relationship. Discernment counseling also helps when one person is unsure they want to stay in the relationship or doubts that therapy (or anything else) can help.

Polyamory and Non-Monogamy

Whether you are established in an ethically non monogamous relationship or are considering opening up or changing the structure of your partnership, ATC therapists can help. Couples therapy for poly folks can assist with boundary or rule setting and processing, or developing a relationship or sexual menu.

Relationship Therapy

Relationships are often our deepest source of joy and connection and our most profound sources of pain. Whether you are struggling with communication, trust, sex and intimacy related issues, co-parenting, or cohabitation, couples therapy can be transformative.

In a monogamous relationship or a polyamorous one, the team at ATC is ready to support you in building better communication skills, navigating the unique challenges of dating and coupling in the queer community, and learning how to create space for your partner(s) in conflict.

Pre-Marital Therapy

You don’t need to be actively experiencing conflict or relationship problems to benefit from pre-marital therapy. Pre-Marital therapy tends to be more time limited than other relationship therapies, and offers prompts for couples around common areas of conflict, education on attachment and relationship styles, and communication building strategies.

Family Building, Fertility, and Infertility
