Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for services.
Affirmative Therapy Collective believes in transparency about the investment therapy requires, both financial and otherwise, so this is values aligned for us and something we did more casually before this was required by law. Regardless, you should never be surprised by a bill or be unclear about what is being charged.
- You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your mental health care (and any other out of network healthcare you might receive!) will cost.
- This estimate is provided before you receive services—usually when you’re scheduling your first appointment or inquiring about services and deciding upon your session fee with our admin team or your therapist.
- The estimate will include the total expected cost of services.
- If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have a right to dispute the charge.
Example Estimate based on our fees: If you’re paying out-of-pocket, therapy sessions typically cost $250 per 50-minute session. If you’re coming weekly, that’s $1000 per month. No shows and late cancellations may incur additional charges.
This can change if we meet more or less often—but we’ll always keep you in the loop if there are fee changes or increases, and will always try and assist you with getting reimbursed by out of network insurance. We already partner with two services : Mentaya and Thrizer to smooth this process out and help take some of the administrative burden off of you.
You can request a written, more formal Good Faith Estimate at any time. Just email us and we’ll send it over.
